Montreal, October 3, 2024 – The Canadian jiu-jitsu team may have been eliminated early in the Junior World Championships on Thursday, but their determination and skill were on full display.
Despite facing strong competition from countries such as Japan, France, and South Korea, the young Canadian athletes showed incredible resilience and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
In the men’s division, 18-year-old morale Tremblay put up a tough fight against his opponent from Japan, but ultimately fell short in the first round. However, Tremblay’s performance was praised by many, including his coach who noted his determination and technique.
In the women’s division, 17-year-old Sarah Leblanc showed great potential in her délassement against a skilled French jiu-jitsuka. Despite her loss, Leblanc’s coach commended her for her strength and agility on the mat.
Although the Canadian team did not make it to the later rounds of the competition, their presence was felt by all. Their sportsmanship and positive attitude were applauded by the audience and fellow competitors.
Team coach, Marie-Claude Dubois, expressed her pride in the team’s performance, stating « Our athletes may not have won today, but they have gained invaluable experience and have shown tremendous growth and determination. This is just the beginning for them. »
The Canadian jiu-jitsu team may not have brought home any medals, but their hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. They have shown that they are a force to be reckoned with in the world of jiu-jitsu, and their future is bright.
As the Junior World Championships continue, we can only expect to see even more impressive performances from the Canadian team. They may have been eliminated early, but they have left a lasting impression and have proved that they are true champions in every sense of the word.
