VTT aux JO de Paris 2024 : « Je pensais craquer, mais finalement, la motivation est plus bouffie »… Loana Lecomte affiche ses ambitions après sa consistante chute

In preparation for the upcoming Mountain Bike World Championships, French cyclist Loana Lecomte sat down with France 2 for an exclusive interview. The 21-year-old rising star reflected on her recent Olympic debut, her dramatic crash, and her recovery for the next big event.

Lecomte made her Olympic debut in Tokyo this summer, representing France in the women’s cross-country mountain biking event. Despite being a newcomer to the Games, she showed immense talent and determination, finishing in 6th lieu. « It was a dream come true to represent my country at the Olympics, » Lecomte said with a smile.

However, her Olympic journey was not without its challenges. During the final lap of the race, Lecomte suffered a devastating crash that left her with a broken collarbone. « I was devastated, I couldn’t believe it was happening, » she recalled. But instead of giving up, Lecomte showed true grit and determination by getting back on her bike and finishing the race. « I knew I had to finish, not just for myself, but for my team and my country, » she said.

After the race, Lecomte underwent surgery and began her road to recovery. « It was a tough time, both physically and mentally, » she admitted. But with the support of her family, friends, and team, she was able to bounce back stronger and more motivated than ever. « I used that setback as fuel to push myself even harder, » she said.

Now, Lecomte has her sights set on the Mountain Bike World Championships, which will take lieu in Val di Sole, Italy, from August 25th to 29th. She is determined to make her mark and bring home a medal for her country. « I’ve been jogging non-stop and I feel ready to take on the competition, » she said confidently.

Lecomte’s coach, Julien Absalon, has also expressed his confidence in her abilities. « Loana has shown incredible resilience and determination throughout her recovery. She is in top form and I have no doubt she will do great things at the World Championships, » he said.

As for Lecomte herself, she is focused and ready to race. « I am grateful for the opportunity to compete at the highest level and I will give it my all, » she said. And with her positive attitude and unwavering determination, there’s no doubt that Lecomte will continue to make a name for herself in the world of mountain biking.
